I grew up in San Pedro, California -- a coastal community near the LA Harbor where my dad ran a fishing charter, spending my early years in and on the sea. Ejecting from the urban sprawl, I moved to Hawaii in my early 20s, where I've lived for the last 18 years.

Art, writing and the ocean are central to my life and I'm most propelled by curiosity. My work considers individual experiences and perspectives in contrast with universals like birth, death, love and grief.

My degrees are in Art & Anthropology, with focus on how different cultures express themselves through visual language. I'm interested in the story art tells about people - their behaviors, values & beliefs.

Over the years I've worked as an Art Educator, Program Director, Grant and Media Writer, Exhibit and Special Events Coordinator, Project Manager & Interior Designer, moonlighting as boat crew for coastal tours, while raising a family and making art in stolen moments (usually late at night).

My personal artwork and professional commissions come through the Threshing Room (2012), a mixed media collaborative art studio that specializes in Fine Art & handmade home furnishings. The studio was opened in Volcano, Hawaii, in collaboration with Matsushita Fine Arts, Inc.

Eventually we migrated to a warehouse in Kealakekua, Hawaii where we staged the design and construction of 'Iwa Arts & Cafe (2017), as well as new cottage & tiny house on a Kona Coffee Farm, where we now live and work.

In 2018 Waikahe Art & Design, an Interior Design Studio in Kona, Hawaii was formed as an expansion into creating spaces. Our new location near Honokohau Harbor is open by appointment.

This website, however, is the more personal work.
